About the project

WEYS GUIDE DOG

WEYS GUIDE DOG is the first initiative in Ukraine to create a professional guide dog training centre for veterans, children and civilians who lost their sight because of the war.

38,000+

people lost their sight as a result of the war

according to data from the UNDP UKRAINE program (one of the largest UN programs)

Currently, there is no state system in Ukraine that provides guide dogs to blind people. The aim of the project is to provide veterans and visually impaired people in Ukraine with a real tool for independence, mobility and rehabilitation.

About us

We are the „Nadzieja Na Przyszłość” Foundation — a Polish charity supporting social initiatives for Ukraine.

The WEYS GUIDE DOG project is run by the Ukrainian NGO ГО „ВЕЙС ГАІД ДОГ” from the city of Sumy.

The initiative works with the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) as a membership candidate and follows international training standards.

Its page was created to raise funds for the project, which is meant to become the foundation of a nationwide guide dog training system in Ukraine.

100% of the funds raised go to a dedicated endowment fund, ensuring durable and transparent financing.

Why is this important now?

  • Ukrainians are losing their sight not only as a result of injuries, but also due to stress, evacuation difficulties and limited access to medical care.

  • Tens of thousands of people will need not only treatment, but also the opportunity to return to an active life.

  • A guide dog is not just a helper. It is a symbol of freedom, dignity, self-confidence and social integration.
